World Childless Week 2021: Free Fireside Wisdom Webinar with the #NomoCrones: ‘Leaving a Legacy’. [Recording now available]



Since we first came together for World Childless Week in 2021, the #NomoCrones (nomo = not-mother and crone is not an insult!) have been meeting each solstice and equinox for a series of informal online zoom gatherings called ‘Fireside Wisdom with Childless Elderwomen‘. And we got the band back together again, with an even BIGGER lineup of  amazing childless elderwomen World Childless Week 2021 to discuss the often tricky issue of ‘Leaving a Legacy’ as a childless person, as part of a whole day of programming for the ‘Leaving a Legacy’ themed-day for World Childless Week 2021 on Wednesday 15th September.

This ‘Leaving a Legacy’ free webinar for World Childless Week is hosted by Jody Day, (IRL): who is 57 and is the Founder of Gateway Women, the global friendship & support network for childless women. She is a psychotherapist and the author of ‘Living the Life Unexpected: How to Find Hope, Meaning and a Fulfilling Future Without Children’. A World Childless Week Ambassador, she is childless due to unexplained infertility with her ex-husband. She lives in Ireland with her partner, his mother and their dog and is working on a novel and her new ‘Conscious Childless Elderwomen’ project: 


SUE NEWSOME (UK) is is 60 and a psychosexual therapist, coach and educator and in 2013 was named ‘Sex Therapist of the Year’ by Outsiders, the UK charity that provides sex and relationship support to physically and socially disabled people. Partnered and childless-by-circumstance herself, Sue has been a long-time member of Gateway Women.



SUSAN DOWRIE (AUS) is 60 and a long-time member of the Gateway Women private online community, as well as having hosted the Brisbane ‘Gateway Gathering’ meetup for several years. A student and practitioner of NVC (Non-Violent Communication), Susan is single and childless due to not meeting the right man. Australian Gateway Gatherings page within the online community


STELLA DUFFY OBE (UK) is 58. A British/New Zealand novelist, actor & playwright, she’s also a yoga teacher & a trainee therapist studying for her doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy, her doctorate research is in the embodied experience of postmenopause. A World Childless Week Ambassador, she and her wife are childless due to cancer and failed fertility treatments.



KATE KAUFMANN (US) is an unabashed elder in her late 60s and the author of “Do You Have Kids? Life When the Answer Is No”. Kate’s blog for Psychology Today, “Unapparent,” explores the lives and issues faced by non-parents in a pronatalist world. A World Childless Week Ambassador, she is childless after infertility treatments with her ex-husband and single after divorce.



MARIA HILL (US) is in her early-70s and is the founder of Sensitive Evolution and a leader/coach in the field of HSP experience and growth as well an inspiring entrepreneur, fine artist and writer. She is a long-time member and volunteer moderator of Gateway Women’s private online community. Maria is childless by marriage.




KAREN MALONE WRIGHT (US) is 65 and the founder of The NotMom, the site for women ‘childless by choice or by chance’ and The NotMom Summit. She now co-hosts ‘The NotMom Conversation‘ on YouTube. Karen and her husband are childless for health reasons.




SUE FAGALDE LICK (US) is in her late-60s
and is the author of the memoir & blog ‘Childless by Marriage’ and most recently ‘Love or Children: When You Can’t Have Both’, as well as novels, journalism & poetry. A musician and singer, she is widowed after being a childless stepmother and is single.


JACKIE SHANNON HOLLIS (US) is in her 60s and is the author of “This Particular Happiness: A Childless Love Story” about her journey to making peace within her marriage to a man who chose not to have children.
