JODY DAY is the English/Irish founder of Gateway Women, the global support & advocacy network for childless women she created in 2011, and for this, she’s often described as the founder of the ‘childless movement’. She’s also the author of the best-selling Living the Life Unexpected: How to Find Hope, Meaning and a Fulfilling Future Without Children (PanMac 2016/2020) and her popular Substack, Gateway Elderwomen. A World Childless Week Ambassador since its inception in 2017, chosen as one of the BBC’s 100 Women in 2013 & as a UK Digital Woman of the Year in 2021, she’s a global thought leader on female involuntary childlessness. She’s a psychotherapist, a 2017 and 2022 TEDx speaker, a founding and former board member at the UK Charity Ageing Without Children, and a former Fellow in Social Innovation at Cambridge Judge Business School. After a lifetime in London, she now lives by the sea in West Cork, rural Ireland, where she’s completing a novel (featuring a childless heroine of course!) and nurturing her emerging Gateway Elderwomen project. She is managed by a small white terrier called Parsnip.

SONIA SUMAN (UK) is the Community Manager for the Childless Collective online community, (formerly known as the Gateway Women Online Community). Sonia’s professional background is in academia; she has a PhD in Renaissance Literature and has taught at both school and university level. She also worked as part of the wellbeing team supporting undergraduates and postgraduates at a major British university. This led her to study and train to teach mindfulness and self-compassion, which has been a huge part of her own healing journey too. Sonia is passionate about community, and became a host for local Gateway gatherings in the Worcestershire (UK) area in 2018 and, realising the difference it made to her life having a local network of childless friends, she has gradually got more and more involved with Gateway Women’s work to the point that she’s now an invaluable part of both the Gateway and Childless Collective teams. SOPHIA ANDEH is a Licensed Gateway Women Facilitator, a yoga teacher, an award-winning childless coach and the founder of 'Butterfly and Beyond.' She has coached in the corporate sector for over 20 years, and now has a special interest in coaching childless women to help them create fulfilling lives without children. Her work promotes inclusivity and raises awareness of the unconscious bias that can marginalize, isolate and strip women of their self-worth and role within society, including in the workplace. Sophia is childless by circumstance having not found a partner to have children with and having been unsuccessful in her attempts to pursue solo motherhood through fertility treatments.
